Meet Gail B., our April Member of the Month
Gail has been attending our Gentle Yoga classes very loyally since she began about a year and a half ago. Gail has seen great progress is flexibility and weight loss, going down 4 pant sizes since she started. Her pleasant and positive attitude is felt by all who attend class with Gail. February 2018: Kayci C.
Meet Kayci C., our February Member of the Month
Kayci started at Newfound Fitness in 2014 when she was 14 years old. Like many teenagers, Kayci struggled with her mental health. Feeling hopeless & lost in a dark state, wondering if life was worth living anymore, Kayci took some advice and started attending an All Levels Yoga class at Newfound Fitness.
Though yoga, Kayci started to discover her inner strength and confidence which has grown exponentially over the last 4 years. She discovered a balance in her life & her emotions that she had never felt before. This has lead Kayci out of her comfort zone and into other challenging classes at Newfound Fitness. Aerial & Acro classes have become some of Kayci’s favorites. These classes have been a healthy challenge that tests her body & mind. It also gave her a chance to connect with like-minded people, who want to live a fun healthy lifestyle.
Kayci graduated high school in June and hopes to become a yoga instructor herself, one day. She has felt the benefits of yoga and has the desire to share those benefits with young girls who may be struggling with their mental health.
We are behind you on this journey Kayci, and hope to have you teaching a yoga class at Newfound Fitness in the near future. Keep paying it forward!
We asked our Member of the Month to answer a few questions about their journey. Here is what Kayci had to say:
What is your favorite program offered at Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness? Why is it your favorite?
My favorite program is easily the Aerial Arts Program. Happiness is hanging off a silk. It's a unique workout that just feels like playing! The program has strengthened me both physically and mentally. It welcomes any body type without any exceptions and has given me a glimpse into the world of self love. At this point I'd prefer spending my time in the air opposed to living life on the ground. I hope to someday become an aerial instructor so I can use the power of yoga to show other young girls how worthy/strong they are in a society that profits from self doubt, in the same way the program has shown me throughout the years. All of that aside, I'd have to say my #1 favorite part of it has to be the people I attend it with. Everyone just wants to see each other succeed and achieve personal goals, you can always count on having someone there to cheer you on
What were your health & fitness goals when you got started? Have you achieved any of these goals so far? What are your current goals?
I wanted to improve my physical and mental health, and explore different exercise options that would bring balance into my life. I wouldn't say that I've achieved this 100%, but I've certainly come a long way compared to when I started. My current goal is to become an instructor sometime in the near future.
How would you compare your previous lifestyle with the one that is today?
Before I started yoga, I lived in a very hopeless and dark state until someone recommended taking classes, which made me stop and think "Is this really how I want to live for the rest of my life?" It provided tools and guidance that I didn't even know I needed until they came. It isn't just about pretzel shapes and handstands, it’s about recognizing and nourishing the light that resides within. I'll be blunt when I say it isn't fix; it seeps into your bones, your heart, and your soul over time. It has given me a whole new outlook on life that consists of mindfulness and acceptance opposed to the way I was living in constant negativity before my journey started.
What are some of your hobbies & other fun activities outside of Newfound Fitness?
Hoop dancing, hiking, singing, and being a ferret mom.
What advice would you give to someone who was interested in starting at Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness?
I would highly recommend taking any of the fun classes Newfound Fitness has to offer, regardless of your age or fitness level, there is definitely something for you and lots that you can learn. You'd be surprised how much one class may change your life, Kendra is extremely kind and encouraging, you can always count on her to help you set goals and give you the support you need in the process of reaching them. If you've been thinking of making a positive change in your life, Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness is the perfect place to start

December 2017: Ruth M.
It is hardly a Gentle Yoga class at Newfound Fitness without Ruth's pleasant, expectant smile, because she seldom misses a class. Ruth doesn't look like a typical yogi – no tight yoga clothing or patchouli scented perfume, and she is more mature than the limber 20 somethings on television. But her dedication to yoga, combined with a “just do it” attitude make her an inspiration for other students.
Ruth is often the first to tell a nervous new student how much better they will feel after class, how much better her life has been with yoga (she began yoga in 2005), and to reassure them that they are in good hands with instructor Lindsey.
Of course, some new to yoga weren't nervous, because Ruth talked about it enough that they decided to try it themselves! Ruth promotes yoga with sincerity; she loves to talk about how yoga soothes her active, worry-prone mind, how it relaxes the tension from her shoulders and neck, and how yoga might help your aches and pains too.
We asked our member of the month to answer a few questions about her journey. Here's what Ruth had to say:
What is your occupation?
I am a retired elementary school teacher
When did you get started with Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness? Can't remember - but I started taking Yoga with Lindsey in 2005.
What is your favorite program offered at Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness? Why is it your favorite?Lindsey's Gentle Yoga class Lindsey makes the class approachable for every body type and limitation.
What were your health & fitness goals when you got started? Have you achieved any of these goals so far? What are your current goals?Originally I was having minor surgery and a friend thought it would be a good idea so I would not stress so much over the surgery. My son says it's absolutely essential for me to keep taking Yoga so I'm much more relaxed to live with!
How would you compare your previous lifestyle with the one that is today?I really can't remember...probably somewhat more uptight than now...but who knows!
What are some of your hobbies & other fun activities outside of Newfound Fitness?Reading - sewing - gardening - church activities - being a consultant to my teacher son - traveling - enjoying my kitty - cooking and baking - corresponding with friends
What advice would you give to someone who was interested in starting at Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness?Just do it....I had no idea what I was getting into when I started Yoga...but now everything I read about wellness says it's very important - for ALL ages! AND Lindsey makes it possible and easy for ANYONE to do it!
Everyone benefits from Ruth's gracious presence in class. And Ruth is a wonderful example of the benefits of yoga in your life.

November 2017: Ginny M.
Meet Ginny M.
Our November Member of the Month
Nearly 3 years ago on a cold day in January, Ginny crossed the threshold of Newfound Fitness for the first time and she has never looked back! Ginny is a wonderful example of someone who shows up and does the work, and is conquering her goals.
Ginny had always tried to have a healthy lifestyle but in recent years, life got in the way and strength, balance and flexibility began to decline. Ginny realized that she needed to get back on track so that she could continue to have quality of life and do all the things she enjoys. Since joining Newfound Fitness, Ginny has tried new ways of exercising including kettle bells, aerial silks and Pilates.
We asked our member of the month to answer a few questions about her journey. Here is what Ginny had to say:
What is your favorite program offered at Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness? Why is it your favorite?
"Personal Training because I needed to get stronger again. In my case it is includes an hour of weight training and an hour of Pilates each week.”
What were your health & fitness goals when you got started? Have you achieved any of these goals so far? What are your current goals?
“Strength and balance retraining; I have reached these goals and need to continue to stay stronger than I was.”
How would you compare your previous lifestyle with the one that is today?
“Very similar, although I am more conscious now both of what I eat and my activity level.”
What are some of your hobbies & other fun activities outside of Newfound Fitness?
"Reading, walking, knitting and crocheting and occasionally swimming. “
What is your favorite motivational quote?
“Can’t think of a specific quote at this point; BUT I know I want to stay as active as possible for as long as possible!”
What advice would you give to someone who was interested in starting at Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness?
“Go for it! The trainers are excellent and know their business. They will start you at your own level of fitness-and gear to where you want to go, as well as include nutritional advice if it’s requested.”
Ginny has achieved her goals of strength, improved balance and flexibility and continues to improve on these. Ginny was recently surprised by her grown son when he said to her, “Mom, your arms look great!” A nice compliment especially at 73 years of age. Ginny works part time as an EMT for Bridgewater and says that the increase in her strength has made the job easier as she can bend and reach and carry heavy equipment with ease now. Congratulations Ginny. Your hard work and dedication are paying off.

October 2017: Erica M.
Meet Erica M., our first ever Member of the Month.
Erica started at Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness in February of 2015. Initially, Erica was a Private Training client focused on building strength at a level and pace that was right for her. Working with dynamic set training and free-weights, Erica has challenged and strengthened her body and mind. She has achieved many of the goals she had when she started, and has set new goals that she is working hard at achieving.
Since joining Newfound Fitness, Erica has really branched out and tried many of the programs at the studio. Her newest challenging class is Power Yoga. This class combines the free-weights with a yoga flow and postures providing a focus on strength and flexibility.
Erica is an inspiration to all people around her. Most Boot-Camp classes Erica is either working hard with her daughter, Cassie or her mom , Gayle. She always is encouraging them, as they begin their fitness journeys. Erica also inspires her co-workers and has started a small running group with fellow employees.
We asked our Member of the Month to answer a few questions about their journey. Here is what Erica had to say:
What is your favorite program offered at Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness? Why is it your favorite?
Boot camp on Monday & Wednesday evenings. It's fast paced and challenging!
What were your health & fitness goals when you got started? Have you achieved any of these goals so far? What are your current goals?
Strengthen and tone and improve cardiovascular endurance. I have achieved these goals and more. My current goals are to improve my balance, flexibility, and core strength.
How would you compare your previous lifestyle with the one that is today?
Several years ago I was moderately sedentary and solely focused on the number on the scale. I now consider fitness as part of my life and my focus is on my overall health and physical and mental well-being.
What are some of your hobbies & other fun activities outside of Newfound Fitness?
I enjoy watching my son play football and spending time with my family.
What is your favorite motivational quote?
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
What advice would you give to someone who was interested in starting at Newfound Fitness, Yoga & Wellness?
No matter your level of fitness, you have to start somewhere. Do only what you can do but always challenge yourself. Eventually the things that once seemed impossible will become easier. And your self confidence and overall health will continue to improve with every new accomplishment.
Erica just turned 40 this past September and feels that she is in the best shape of her life. She is currently studying to become a certified Personal Trainer so she can help others achieve their goals. Congratulations Erica. Your hard work and dedication are paying off.
